Every August Edinburgh hosts the largest arts festival in the world. Amateur performers to professional names take to the streets of Edinburgh to showcase their talents. Entertainment includes comedy, theatre, musicals, cabaret, dance, opera, circus and so much more; and with the option of paid tickets and free performances the Fringe Festival is definitely for everyone.

Starting in 1947 with seven performances, this event has exploded into the largest arts festival in the world. With over 300 venues, and 55,000 performances of over 3,500 shows there is certainly something for everyone.

Making the most of your trip to the Fringe:

The city becomes a very busy place during the Fringe so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to get to each venue before each show. You may be refused entry if you are late, especially for ticketed events. The Fringe is spread across the city so venues could be quite far apart, so it is important that you plan ahead so that you aren’t late for your next show.

Hundreds of Fringe staff are on the streets to help you whether that be with box office, flyers, or general questions so don’t be afraid to approach them for recommendations.

There are many different types of tickets such as 2 for 1, family tickets, group discounts, and concessions, so plan ahead to get the best deals for your trip to Edinburgh.
