
Sestriere, is an alpine village located in Italy’s western Alps, near the French border. The resort is part of one of Europe’s biggest ski areas known as Via Lattea – the Milky Way.
Sestriere regularly hosts Alpine Ski World Cup events and it was also chosen to be the centre for the alpine events in the 2006 Winter Olympic Games and Winter Paralympics. If it’s good enough for the Olympics, it’s good enough for you!
The dozens of slopes, including Olympic level piste running from Mount Motta and Mount Banchetta, make Sestriere the ideal location for a snow holiday.
The Via Lattea is an area that spans across more than 400km of skiable pistes and borders both France and Italy.

The mountains are connected by various ski lifts and slopes so you can be sure to visit them all.
The temperature in Sestriere varies with the coldest months being December, January, and February. The seasonal snow is usually the deepest at the end of January, into the beginning of February – this would be the best time to go skiing.
Like many ski resorts, Sestriere is fully kitted out with ski hire shops, ski schools, and a small village for apres-ski. The option to buy lift passes by number of days gives you the freedom to pick and choose how many days you want to ski by how much you want to spend.
There are various bars and restaurants for a lively apres-ski scene that attracts many international visitors.

Travelling to Sestriere has never been easier. Several airlines offer flights from the UK to Turin (nearest airport 90km away). The transfer time from Turin airport to Sestriere is roughly 1.5 hours and many of the hotels in the resort offer an airport transfer to take the stress away.
Other cities such as Milan, Geneva, and Genoa are within 2.5 hours transfer time if you were travelling onwards.
Skiing and snowboarding is not the only opportunity for fun, various other snow activities are available in the resort for the non-skiers – for example sledding, and husky rides.
With the airport transfers, modern hotels, lively apres-ski, and gorgeous slopes, Sestriere is certainly one to add to your list of skiing trips.
