48 hours in Las Vegas

You could easily spend two weeks wandering around the ever-growing Las Vegas strip, with hotels, bars, shops, and casinos covering every square foot.

Here is how you can squeeze Vegas into just 48 hours.

Day 1

Morning

Start your day with a buffet at any one of the huge breakfast buffets on offer in Vegas. Most hotels on the Vegas Strip offer enormous all you can eat buffets with every food option imaginable; something for even the fussiest of eaters. Cost varies depending on hotel.

After breakfast head over to the Venetian hotel. This is located in the middle of the strip opposite the famous Mirage and Caesars Palace hotels. This huge hotel resembles the Italian city perfectly with the boutiques, cafes and even a canal and gondola running through the hotel. Spend the morning by taking a gondola ride through the Italian streets with an authentic Gondolier singing to you. As the Venetian hotel was my personal favourite, it had to be included in the itinerary!

Afternoon

For lunch, hop over to Paris to choose from the many Parisian bakeries and cafes. Located a few doors down from the Venetian, the Paris hotel has been built to resemble authentic and romantic Paris. Lined with cobbled streets, quaint boutiques and Parisian bakeries, this hotel is definitely one for the list.

Hidden between the Venetian and the Paris is the LINQ experience. This outside strip of shops, restaurants, cafes, and bars offers another Vegas experience away from the main strip. At the LINQ experience you can get a bird’s eye view of Las Vegas on the world’s largest observation big wheel. Taking 30 minutes to complete one rotation you will certainly get the perfect photograph from above. If you like adventure and adrenaline, the LINQ experience also offers the ‘Fly LINQ’ zip wire soaring 1,080 feet above the promenade.

Evening

As the sun goes down, head back to the main strip and watch the sunset over the Bellagio fountains. The world-famous Bellagio fountain shows are gorgeous both day and night but the atmosphere at night is truly magical.

Las Vegas comes alive at night with hundreds of shows, casinos, bars, and experiences at your doorstep. There is a show for everyone, from singers, dancers, and acrobats to magicians and comedy. A full show list is available at Vegas.com.

If you don’t know what you want, I recommend Cirque de Soleil. These shows are a weird but

brilliant combination of acrobatics and dancing, a true Vegas special.

Day 2

Morning

Start day 2 with another buffet, maybe you could try a different hotel! As well as this, the Vegas Strip has breakfast chains Denny’s, IHOP, McDonalds, to name a few, if you fancy trying something new.

Today will be spent at the South end of the strip. Start the morning by travelling down to the famous ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ sign for a photo to make everyone at home jealous. From the centre of the strip (by the Bellagio, Caesars Palace, and the Paris hotels) the sign is a 6-minute drive or 50-minute walk. Another transport option is the monorail travelling from North to South of the strip.

Afternoon

The hotels at the South end of the strip are home to a number of great activities for all tastes. Spend early afternoon screaming through the New York skyline on the rollercoaster at New York, New York, or you can learn about the human anatomy at the Bodies exhibit in the Luxor hotel or simply soaking up the atmosphere in the shops and casinos.

Now to enter chocolate heaven with both Hershey’s World and M&M World located between the New York, New York hotel and the MGM Grand hotel. Sweets and chocolate as far as the eye can see; a child’s (and adults) playground. Don’t forget while you are wandering around the strip, make sure to stop an Elvis impersonator for a photo.

Evening

For your last evening in Las Vegas, travel to Downtown Las Vegas to visit the Fremont Street Experience. Situated North of the strip, a 10-minute drive or 1 hour 50-minute walk from the Bellagio, is the old Vegas Strip. The Fremont Street Experience still offers a huge range bars, casinos, and shops similar to the main strip. The unique thing about the Fremont Street Experience is the spectacular light show over-head. The light show on the ceiling is a high-tech light, sound and colour show that you definitely do not want to miss.

You will never be short of places to eat in Las Vegas. Vegas is home to thousands of bars, restaurants, and cafes from Michelin star to fast food, from huge chains to small independent cafes. You could just spend your 48 hours restaurant hopping!

While Vegas appeals greatly to the over 21s, there are certainly many options for all ages, a trip to remember!
